Buffalo City College Nated Courses 2026
Buffalo City College Nated Courses 2026
The Buffalo City College has a very good history of providing the best education and training for its students. The college still stands as the headlight of providing quality higher education in South Africa. National Accredited Technical Education Diploma (NATED) programs are provided under the authority of the Department of Higher Education and Training. The programs consist of 18 months of theory studies at colleges and 18 months of suitable practicals in workplaces. Engineering studies range from N1 to N6, while business and utility studies range from N4 to N6.
This qualification is designed for students who have a strong interest and aptitude in a specific vocational or occupational field. It aims to develop both their technical and theoretical understanding, along with the practical workplace skills necessary for success in their chosen career path. Upon completion, students will be equipped to either pursue further studies or enter the workforce at an entry or intermediate level within their industry. Entry into NATED programs requires a Grade 12 certificate or current Grade 12 status, with specific academic requirements depending on the field of study. For example, engineering applicants must have at least 40% in mathematics and physical sciences, while business studies applicants need a minimum of 23 combined points, excluding life orientation. The college offers these courses across multiple campuses, including East London and John Knox Bokwe, providing accessible education options.
Students receive certificates upon completing each theoretical level (N4, N5, and N6), with the National Diploma awarded only after successful completion of both theoretical and practical components. Buffalo City TVET College’s NATED courses are ideal for learners aiming to develop technical competencies for immediate employment or further study, supported by a structured application process beginning September 1, 2025, for the 2026 academic year. This approach ensures graduates are well-prepared to enter the workforce with relevant skills and qualifications. The qualification’s flexible structure allows students to progress through the N4, N5, and N6 levels in their vocational area. This can be done either consecutively in one continuous study period of up to 18 months or with breaks in between, depending on their circumstances and preferences.

Duration For Nated Courses At Buffalo City College
Nated’s courses consist of theory and practical elements. The student needs to undergo 3 levels of the theoretical element for 18 months, called N4, N5 and N6. Upon Completion of each of these levels, the student gets a certificate. Each of the stages takes 6 months to complete. Students will be given a National Diploma Certificate only when they complete both the theoretical and practical elements.
To be awarded the National N Diploma at Level 6, students must complete the theoretical component of the NATED program, followed by a minimum of 18 months of practical work experience. This hands-on training allows them to apply the knowledge gained in a real-world workplace setting.
