Diploma in Tourism Management

The Diploma in Tourism Management is designed to give students a general understanding of business management as well as the necessary practical abilities for the tourism industry. Learners who meet the requirements will be well-versed in tourism and have a solid grasp of the ideas and principles behind tourist management. The holders of this certificate will be capable of successfully employing a range of managerial, technical, and personal skills and tactics in the day-to-day management of a tourism firm.

Higher Certificate in Tourism Management

Applications for admission to undergraduate qualifications for the 2024 academic year are open from 01 September to 13 October 2023.

Qualification admission requirements for Tourism at Unisa

Your admission to Unisa is dependent on you meeting the specific admission requirements for your chosen qualification.

  • A National Senior Certificate (NSC) with at least 30% in the language of teaching and learning, or
  • a Senior Certificate (SC) with at least an F symbol on HG or E symbol on SG in the language of teaching and learning, or
  • a National Certificate (Vocational) with at least 40% in the language of teaching
    and learning in terms of the NSC.
  • Selection options for the Higher Certificate studies will be limited and aligned to vocational subject choices obtained in the National Certificate Vocational (NCV) level 4.

Student fees and funding your studies

Application fee

Pay the application fee once you’ve received your student number:

  • R135 for online applications
  • Use the 8-digit student number you receive from Unisa AND the application fee reference number (ie YOUR 8-digit STUDENT NUMBER 5370810030)
  • Send the proof of payment to susdepid@unisa.ac.za
  • Visit www.unisa.ac.za/paymentinfo for banking details and payment information

Please note that this application fee is non-refundable even if you decide not to study through Unisa, do not qualify for admission to Unisa, or cannot be offered a space due to limited spaces available.

  • Admission to a qualification is not automatic. It will depend on whether you comply with the admission requirements and if space is available.

Additional support for this qualification via TVET colleges

Unisa has an agreement with various Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) colleges to offer classes in a selected number of qualifications. These classes have proved to generally improve the throughput rate of students who enroll for them.

Take note of the following:

  • Make sure that your TVET college of choice offers support for your qualifications.
  • Apply for admission during Unisa’s application period via your TVET college or via Unisa.
