Who Can Apply For Matric Second Chance?
You have the option to retake the Matric if you fail. Applying for the rewrite exam will give you the chance to achieve better marks. If you weren’t able to take the final exam because of an injury or a death in the family, you will be given another chance.
If you fulfill the following criteria, you may enroll in classes: You couldn’t have passed with the pass level for the National Senior Certificate.
- It is only the subjects that you failed that you are rewriting
- You want to rewrite subjects you failed with low marks
- Unforeseen circumstances prevented you from writing
- If you have proof that you qualify to study at university but need to improve a subject to gain admission
- Your age is younger than 21

What Matric Passing Score Means
The passing score for the Matric exam is 40%.
But the primary goal is to pass matric. If you want to be admitted to university or qualify for a grant or scholarship, your grades must increase to at least 60% and higher.
The following marks are necessary to receive the lowest Matric Pass Level:
- 40% off your Home Language
- 40% for two (2) other subjects
- 30% for the rest of the subjects
- You may fail (1) one subject
This is called a National Senior Certificate Matric Pass Level.
