However, sometimes. Students may not perform as well as they had hoped, or they may want to improve their grades to access better tertiary education courses. The Matriculation Rewrite course was created primarily to allow students to receive their certificates. To qualify for the Rewrite course, you must have a grade 9 or equivalent certificate (ABET level 04)
If you took your final matriculation exam but did not pass it to receive your certificate, or if you want to raise your grade point average, you can register for the Matric Rewrite course.

Matric Rewrite Requirement
To qualify for the Rewrite course, you must:
- Have a grade 9 or equivalent certificate (ABET level 04)
- Have an incomplete Matriculation result
- Be 21 years or older at the time of your final exams
- Be able to read and write in English or Afrikaans
How Many Times Can You Do Matric in South Africa?
You won’t be limited to rewriting a specific number of topics after completing a rewrite course. You can select one or two subjects to raise your grades.
Which Subjects Will I Be Able To Rewrite
You can select to rewrite the following compulsory and optional subjects during your program:

Duration To Complete The Matric Rewrite Course
The Rewrite course can be completed in 12, 24, or 36 months. The recommended period is between 12 and 24 months.
Certificate To Get After Completing the Matric Rewrite
After completing the Rewrite course successfully, you will be given an Amended Senior Certificate. Since it is equivalent to a regular matric certificate, this certificate will be treated similarly.
