One of the greatest and most well-recognised qualifications for a draftsperson is the Multi-Disciplinary Draughting National Certificate. It is the industry’s most recognized draughtsman qualification and a requirement for any additional draughtsmanship training. Along with the basics of drafting, it will also expose you to your drafting software tools and a variety of drafting disciplines, including architectural, mechanical, structural, process plant, and many more. Furthermore, this qualification will help you get ready for the Department of Education’s MDDOP N4/N5 National Examinations.

For students who are interested in drafting as a career but are unclear about which kind of drafting to specialise in, the Basic Drafting Course is ideal. In addition to training them in drafting software, the MDDOP course exposes students to a variety of disciplines, including engineering, building, mechanical, plumbing, and structural steel detailing.

This qualification recommends Mathematics, Physical Science and Technical Drawing at Matric level or equivalent. However, should you not have these, there is a bridging course for these subjects to equip you to succeed in this field. These bridging courses are 3 months in duration. Below are the courses offered:

Drawing Office N4:

Mechanical and Drawing Office Orientation N4
General Draughting N4
Mechanical Draughting N4
Pictorial Draughting N4

Drawing Office N5:

Computer-Aided Draughting N5
Building Draughting N5
Structural Steel Detailing N5
Electrical Draughting N5

Mddop Course Duration:

One Year

Basic Draughting Course Fees:

R 40,000.00
R 3,500.00 deposit, and the balance payable in 10 equal instalments.

MDDOP Courses Entry Requirement:

Grade 12 with math or an N3 Engineering Certificate with Mathematics and Technical or Engineering Drawing. If you do not have these qualifications, a bridging course is available. Recommendations: Your computer and computer literacy.
