Who Can Apply For Unisa Primary Health Care Courses?

New applicants, including those who have applied for admission to a new qualification at UNISA, may only register after receiving an official offer of placement and accepting it online. UNISA may cancel or decline your registration if it is discovered that your admission to the qualification was incorrect.

Returning students who are re-registering will be allowed to register for the 2026 academic year once the registration period begins.

Important: If you are planning to begin a different qualification, you must apply online for that qualification during the official application period.

How To Choose Your Primary Health Care Modules at UNISA

Each UNISA qualification is carefully structured, and you must complete a specific number of NQF-level credits within a set timeframe to graduate. When selecting your modules, it is important to understand how co-requisites and pre-requisites work:

A co-requisite means that two modules must be taken at the same time. If you want to register for Module B but have not yet passed Module A (its co-requisite), you must register for both simultaneously. You cannot cancel Module A unless you also cancel Module B.
A pre-requisite means you must pass one module (Module A) before you can register for the next one (Module B).

When registering, you cannot exceed the maximum allowed credits:

Up to 60 credits per semester
A total of 120 credits per academic year

This limit excludes supplementary or aegrotat exams from previous semesters. However, any modules you take for non-degree or non-diploma purposes are still counted toward your total. Time management is crucial. Be realistic about how much time you can dedicate to your studies:

Semester modules require around 6 to 8 hours per week
Year-long modules require about 4 to 6 hours per week
