The Department of Marketing Management in the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences contains the Tourism Management Division, which focuses its efforts on postgraduate students enrolled in the Honours, Masters, and Doctoral programs.

By 2030, there will be 1,8 billion foreign tourist visitors worldwide, a 43 million increase in annual arrivals. Increasingly, tourism is a major force behind socioeconomic development worldwide. Destinations have made investments in infrastructure, the creation of jobs, and the growth of both new and current businesses.

The dynamic nature of tourism and the important part that management plays in this ever-changing environment have been acknowledged by the University of Pretoria’s Division of Tourism Management. Admission Requirements for Tourism

Please apply as soon as applications open on 1 March.

  • The closing date is an administrative admission guideline.
  • Once a non-selection programme is full and has reached the institutional targets, then that programme will be closed for further admissions, irrespective of the closing date. However, if the institutional targets have not been met by the closing date, then that programme will remain open for admissions until the institutional targets are met.
  • Life Orientation is excluded when calculating the APS.

You will be considered for conditional admission, if space allows, and if you:

  • have a National Senior Certificate (NSC) with university endorsement or an equivalent qualification, and you are a Grade 11 applicant, please submit your Grade 11 final exam results; OR
  • are transferring to the University of Pretoria from other recognized institutions; OR
  • a graduate or possess graduate status from another postsecondary institution that is recognized; OR
  • are a University of Pretoria graduate from a different faculty; AND
  • obey the program-specific APS standards as well as the minimal subject and accomplishment requirements.
  • If you are an international applicant, you must submit an application for conditional admission using your grade 11-equivalent final grades.
  • Final admission is based on the qualification equivalent to the NSC.

You will be considered for final admission to degree studies, if space allows, and if you:

  • with admission to Bachelor’s degree studies, possess a National Senior Certificate (NSC) or an equivalent certificate, and meet the minimum subject requirements as well as the APS requirements of their selected program; OR
  • are a student transferring from another reputable university and meet the requirements for the program; OR
  • own a degree from another accredited university or college, or you graduated from a different faculty at the University of Pretoria.
  • You must obtain a Complete Exemption Certificate or a Foreign Conditional Exemption Certificate based on your international (‘foreign’) qualifications if you are an international student or a student with other credentials comparable to the NSC (including school credentials from other countries, such as Spain, New Zealand, etc.). Only Universities South Africa (USAf) at click here is able to issue certificates. These candidates must also fulfill the necessary program admission requirements.
