Minimum Admission Requirements For PHC At DUT

In addition to Rule G23A, G3, G4, and G7, applicants must be in possession of:

A diploma or degree in General Nursing and Midwifery or
Have been granted conferment of status (Rule G10A refers) or
Have been granted advanced standing via RPL (Rule G10B).
Be registered with the South African Nursing Council as a General Nurse and Midwife.
Have 2 years or more post-registration experience as a general nurse and midwife.
Have proof of professional indemnity

In addition to Rule G7, the minimum admission requirements for entry into the program are as follows:

For National Senior Certificate (NSC) holders with endorsement for degree entry:

English: minimum rating of 3
Life Sciences: minimum rating of 4
Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy: minimum rating of 4
Two additional 20-credit subjects (only one may be an additional language): minimum rating of 4 each

For Senior Certificate holders with matriculation exemption:

English:

Higher Grade (HG): minimum rating of E
Standard Grade (SG): minimum rating of C

Biology:

HG: minimum rating of D
SG: minimum rating of B

Mathematics or Physical Science:

HG: minimum rating of D
SG: minimum rating of B

Admission of International Students:

International applicants will be admitted according to DUT’s Admissions Policy for International Students, as well as General Rules G4 and G7 (5).
