What Symbol “D” Means

In Matric results, the symbol “D” denotes a gain of between 50 and 59%. The complete list of Matric APS and symbols is displayed in the table below:

Various Matric Pass Levels 

There is a pass level for each programme level and a breakdown of these programmes is shown below;

Pass Level Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree pass
  • 40% or above for your Home Language subject
  • 50% or above for four subjects
  • 30% or above for two other subjects
Diploma pass
  • 40% or above for your Home Language subject
  • 40% or above for four other subjects
  • 30% or above for two other subjects
Higher Certificate pass
  • 40% or above for your Home Language subject
  • 40% or above for two other subjects
  • 30% or above for four other subjects
NSC pass/Matric pass
  • 40% or above for your Home Language subject
  • 40% or above for two other subjects
  • 30% or above for three other subjects
  • You can fail one subject

Where Can I Access My Matric Results?

Soon, the matric results will be made public. They are available to you in the following ways:

  • Use the USSD code *120*35658# on a mobile device. Get your results broken down by subject by following the instructions, using your ID number.
  • News Websites: On the day that the results are released, news websites will update their pages with the results.
  • Your school will be able to give you your final results, according to them.
  • Online: Go to education.gov.za and select the link for the NSC exam results for 2024.
