High Distinctions Points

There are seven (7) ways to differentiate one subject from another. The table below illustrates how seven (7) points are needed to pass with distinction:

How Are Distinctions Obtained

You’ll succeed in school if you put forth a consistent effort. This necessitates working harder than usual on your studies. If an average student earns 60%, you must achieve a higher grade if you want to be outstanding. In this case, 80% or greater is a passing grade with distinction.

Are distinction and a bachelor’s pass equivalent?

No, earning a distinction does not guarantee that your bachelor’s degree will be successfully earned. Your bachelor’s degree pass is calculated using your final Matric results, which will decide your APS. The requirements for a Bachelor’s Degree Pass are as follows:

  • 40% or above for the Home Language
  • 50% or above for four subjects
  • 30% or above for two other subjects
