University of Pretoria Tourism Management

The Department of Marketing Management in the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences houses the Touring Management Division, which focuses its efforts on postgraduate students enrolled in the Honours, Masters, and Doctoral programs. If they are qualified, local and foreign students from a variety of academic backgrounds who are interested in studying a subject related to touring are welcome to apply for any of the postgraduate programs.

MPhil (Tourism Management)

For each degree, there won’t be a yearly admission of new students. Making sure the degree they want to apply for will be offered is still the applicant’s duty.

Admission requirements for tourism

  • Relevant honors degree or relevant postgraduate diploma (PGDip)
  • A cumulative weighted average of at least 65% for the honors degree or postgraduate diploma

Additional requirements

  • If a candidate does not meet the required level of competence in the subject as determined by the department, the relevant head of the department or the Postgraduate Committee may refuse admission to a master’s degree. However, a candidate who does not meet the required level of competence may be admitted, provided he or she completes additional study assignments and/or examinations.
  • The relevant head of the department/Postgraduate Committee may set additional admission requirements.
  • Specific departments have specific requirements for admission
  • The number of students will be determined in line with the growth strategy of the University of Pretoria as approved by the Executive.
  • Allowance will be made for the diversity profile of students
