Tourism Management At the University of Johannesburg
Diploma in Tourism Management
A minimum APS of 22 in Mathematics or 24 in Mathematical Literacy. English 4 (50%), Mathematics or Technical Mathematics 3 (40%), or Mathematical Literacy 5 (60%).
Bachelor of Tourism Development and Management
A minimum APS of 26 in Mathematics or 28 in Mathematical Literacy. English 5 (60%), Mathematics or Technical Mathematics 3 (40%), or Mathematical Literacy 4 (50%).
Advanced Diploma in Tourism Management
A minimum of 60% of the third-year modules from a diploma in tourism management or any other diploma closely connected to tourism or management at NQF Level 6 is required for admission to the advanced diploma program in tourism management.
Bachelor of Tourism and Hospitality Management Honours
Candidates with any applicable baccalaureate degree, an advanced diploma, a BTech, and an understanding of tourism and hospitality at the appropriate NQF Level: 7 are taken into consideration. Candidates with any other related qualification in hospitality or food and beverage operations (at NQF Level: 7), based on all final year modules, will also be taken into consideration. The last year of a baccalaureate degree or an average of 60% for each of their Advanced Diploma (or BTech qualification) modules must be completed by a prospective student.
The School of Tourism and Hospitality (STH) may from time to time create final selection criteria based on academic performance. Should students not follow the requirements of access for the specific module knowledge in Tourism and Hospitality, the STH may ask them to complete a bridging program. By completing a literacy exam, a prospective student must demonstrate sufficient English language proficiency. A selection process interview possibility.
Master of Tourism and Hospitality Management (Research)
A Postgraduate Diploma, a Bachelor of Tourism and Hospitality Management with Honors, or an equivalent degree at NQF level 8 with a minimum average of 65% is required for admission. A research proposal must also be able to be developed by the student for the proposed research project. The choice and placement of graduate students is determined by the availability of advisors.
