How Many Subjects Do You Need To Pass Level 4 NCV 2025?

The National Certificate Vocational (NCV) program is designed to give students the information and abilities needed to prepare for a variety of jobs. The NCV courses begin with Level 4, and passing it is a great effort. However, how many courses must you pass to earn a Level 4 NCV qualification?

There are three stages in the NCV program: Level 2, Level 3, and Level 4. The highest level, Level 4, is when your NCV studies come to an end. The following prerequisites must normally be met to earn a Level 4 NCV qualification:

National Certificate (Vocational) (NCV) Guidelines

The minimum admission requirement for a Bachelor’s degree program is a National Certificate (Vocational) Level 4 given by the Council for General and Further Education and Training, according to institutional admission standards. The following must be completed as minimal legal requirements for entry to a bachelor’s degree program:

  • Three (3) fundamental subjects between 60 – 69% (3) (including English as the language of learning and teaching at Wits)
  • Three (3) vocational subjects from the designated list between 70 – 79% (4).

If an applicant with an NCV meets the following institutional requirements, in addition to the Faculty and degree-specific requirements, he or she may be invited to write a test. A candidate must possess:

  • Taken English as either a Language of Learning and Teaching or as the First Additional language
  • Taken Mathematics as a Fundamental Component
  • Achieved 70 – 79% (4) for all seven subjects – in fundamental and vocational categories.

What is the pass mark for NCV In 2025?

Each test requires a passing score of 50%. Students will receive their results only 5–10 days after the test date. Both exams must be passed for students to receive an application form. You must have succeeded in pure mathematics in the grade you passed if you are interested in pursuing any engineering certifications.

How many subjects are there in NCV?

Some colleges may accept applicants with an NCV 4 for some bachelor’s degree programs. Applicants who meet the following criteria can be accepted into degree programs at institutions like the University of the Witwatersrand: an APS of 6 (70–79%) for each of the seven subjects in the recognized vocational categories.

Can someone with NCV Level 4 pursue nursing 2025?

You can apply to study for a diploma or bachelor’s degree in nursing science once you have your NC(V) at NQF level 4. The South African Nursing Council (SANC) will thereafter be able to register you. Following registration with SANC, you can only begin working as a nurse.

An alternate option that is equal to a Matric Certificate is the National Certificate: Vocational, or NC (V). Programs are designed to equip students with the practical skills and information necessary for a successful career in a particular field of study. offered at National Qualifications Framework Levels 2, 3, and 4, which correspond to Grades 10, 11, and 12.

Following the National Certificate Vocational, one can seek employment or apply to a university or institution to continue their education in the manners described below:

  • The higher Certificate program at NQF Level 5;
  • National Diploma at NQF Level 6;
  • Bachelor’s Degree at NQF Level 7.
