Minimum Admission Requirements For PHC At DUT
In addition to Rule G23A, G3, G4, and G7, applicants must be in possession of:
- A diploma or degree in General Nursing and Midwifery or
- Have been granted conferment of status (Rule G10A refers) or
- Have been granted advanced standing via RPL (Rule G10B).
- Be registered with the South African Nursing Council as a General Nurse and Midwife.
- Have 2 years or more post-registration experience as a general nurse and midwife.
- Have proof of professional indemnity
In addition to Rule G7, the minimum admission requirements for entry into the program are as follows:
For National Senior Certificate (NSC) holders with endorsement for degree entry:
- English: minimum rating of 3
- Life Sciences: minimum rating of 4
- Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy: minimum rating of 4
- Two additional 20-credit subjects (only one may be an additional language): minimum rating of 4 each
For Senior Certificate holders with matriculation exemption:
English:
- Higher Grade (HG): minimum rating of E
- Standard Grade (SG): minimum rating of C
Biology:
- HG: minimum rating of D
- SG: minimum rating of B
Mathematics or Physical Science:
- HG: minimum rating of D
- SG: minimum rating of B
Admission of International Students:
- International applicants will be admitted according to DUT’s Admissions Policy for International Students, as well as General Rules G4 and G7 (5).
