Grade 12 in high school is when you study the subjects that make up your matriculation. These courses are designed to give you the information you need to find entry-level employment or to be qualified to study at a university or college.

 During this period, students are required to study a set of core subjects that provide them with a well-rounded education and lay the foundation for their future endeavors. To obtain the National Senior Certificate in matric, learners must have SEVEN subjects, four compulsory and three which are chosen at the end of Grade 9 for Grade 10 to 12. Your compulsory subjects must include the following subjects:

Matric Compulsory Courses

There are some subjects you must take to complete your matric year. The matric required subjects are as follows:

  • Home Language
  • First Additional Language
  • Mathematics or Mathematics Literacy
  • Life Orientation

These subjects have been set by the Department of Basic Education.

Is it Possible To Attend University Without a Matric Certificate

No, Matric is a requirement for enrollment at a university. To enroll in college, you need a Matric Certificate with a Bachelor’s Degree Pass. In some cases, universities will accept applicants who have Diploma Passes. But keep in mind that with this pass, you can only pursue a Diploma, Higher Certificate, or Certificate Course. If you satisfy any further criteria the university may have, you can do so.

 How Many Subjects Are In Matric

The average Matric high school curriculum consists of roughly twenty-three (23) topics. You just need to focus on seven (7) issues, though. You require three (3) elective subjects in addition to the four (4) required subjects. For your Matric to be complete, you must pass these courses.

Can I Get My Matric With Just 5 Subjects?

No, five (5) subjects are not enough to pass the matriculation. To study for the Matricula, you must have seven (7) subjects, and you must pass six (6) subjects to graduate. Students enrolled in a college for the Adult Matric program are those who can pass Matric with five (5) subjects. To finish the course, they can study six (6) subjects and pass five (5) of them.
