NQF Level 2 Electrical Engineering Explained: Skills and Qualifications

The NQF Level 2 Electrical Engineering is a qualification framework to identify or distinguish between the qualifications of studying Electrical Engineering. The qualification provides learners, education and training providers, and employers with the standards and breadth of learning needed to work effectively in a variety of industries, utilizing electrical engineering knowledge and skills to meet the challenges of such an environment.

Qualified students will also be able to apply their knowledge to scientific and technical ideas and concepts. They will also be able to manage and support the many rules and procedures governing their workplace’s safety, health, environment, and quality systems. This qualification will enable the student to find work as a skilled worker or to work for themselves as a single-phase electrician.

  • NQF Level 2 Electrical Engineering

This is the first of a three-level qualification series that reflects the electrical field’s workplace-based demands as indicated by companies and employees both today and in the future. This electrical engineering qualification provides the foundational competencies and skills required to work on designated electrical circuits and installations, as well as access to employment in the electrical engineering field and the flexibility to pursue different careers across various industry sectors.

This electrical engineering certification teaches the fundamental skills needed to operate on specific electrical circuits and systems. At NQF Level 3, the student would gain a basic set of abilities to work on integrated circuits and installations, allowing him or her to work on integrated systems and installations as well as function as a technician.

  • Requirements For NQF Level 2 Electrical Engineering

The fundamental component consists of 20 credits in the field of Communication and 16 credits in the field of Mathematical Literacy, therefore students are required to;

  • Have completed a National Certificate at NQF Level 1 in a trade-related sub-field or an equivalent qualification.
  • Students must be physically able to perform the outcomes as specified in the unit standards
