Health science is a multidisciplinary field that encompasses various subjects, reflecting the diverse nature of healthcare careers. To help you understand the fundamentals of health and illness, it includes a combined anatomy and physiology curriculum. Along with learning the fundamentals of disease epidemiology, you will also be able to take courses on public health, primary healthcare, health systems, and health management.

First-year

  • Introduction to Medical Sciences
  • Chemistry
  • Physics
  • Health Systems Sciences
  • System Dynamics for Health Sciences

NSC Entry Requirements

  • English Home Language OR First Additional Language Level 5
  • Mathematics Level 5
  • Life Sciences AND/OR Physical Sciences Level 5

A Composite Index (CI) score is used by the Faculty of Health Sciences to inform the selection of applicants. This comprises:

  • Your matriculation grades are in five subjects: mathematics, English, the best two of the physical and biological sciences, and the other two. It is the percentage attained that matters, not the sign. The five subjects’ average is given a 60% weighting.
  • scores from the National Benchmark Test (NBT). The weighting of the NBT score average is 40%.
