What is an APS Score?

The Admission Point Score, or APS, is a system used by most South African colleges and universities to decide if you qualify for certain courses. It works by adding up points from your National Senior Certificate (NSC) results in your best six subjects. Each subject mark is converted into points, and these points are totaled to give you your APS.
An APS score helps schools see if you meet the minimum requirements to study a particular program. For example, some courses need a higher APS, while others accept lower scores.

A score of 22 is seen as moderate. With a 22 APS, you can apply for many diploma and degree programs, especially at universities of technology and comprehensive universities. Some traditional universities may also accept this score for certain courses
