What Is The Tourism Course In TVET College?

The National Certificate (Tourism) is a programme at each of Levels 2, 3 and 4 of the NQF. The goal of this curriculum is to teach tourism theory and practice. The study’s practical component may be delivered in the workplace or in a simulated working setting. It will give students the chance to experience real-world employment settings while they are still in school.

Tourism Course In TVET College

The Travel & tourist certificate program covers public relations-related careers in the tourist and hospitality sectors, as well as tourism fundamentals including tour guiding, tour operators, and game rangers. This program combines theoretical and academic knowledge with useful skills and moral principles.

How long is the qualification?

At each NQF level of study, the National Certificate (Tourism) program lasts a full year. Upon successfully completing each level of study—Level 2, Level 3, and Level 4—a student is given a certificate.

Which subjects make up a National Certificate (Tourism)?

In order to obtain a National Certificate (Tourism), a student is required to take a total of 7 subjects. These include 3 fundamental subjects and 4 vocational subjects.

Minimum entry requirements to Tourism programme

  • A year end school report for grade 9, 10, 11 or 12 certificate; or
  • An NQF Level 1 qualification; or
  • An approved bridging programme designed for the specific purpose to access NQF Level 2; or
  • A Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) assessment to meet the basic requirements for access to NQF Level 2.
