Diploma: Tourism Management

 Admission Requirements

A candidate must score at least 28 or more points on the scoring scale. Every applicant must write a scholastic aptitude test and undergo an interview. Due to the relatively high demand for places in this program, a candidate who scores less than 24 points on the scoring scale will not be considered for selection.

For applicants who passed the NSC in 2008 or later:

On the scoring scale, a candidate must receive at least 28 or more points. Each applicant is required to complete an academic aptitude exam and an interview. An applicant who receives less than 24 points on the scoring scale will not be given consideration for selection due to the relatively strong demand for spots in this program.

Tourism Management Career Opportunities

The tourism profession is accessible to entry as a tour operator, travel agent, various airline positions, event and conference organizer/manager, car rental agent, tourist official, government employee, or instructor after successfully completing this certification. Employment opportunities are also available at guesthouses, hotels, lodges, resorts, guest farms, and nature reserves.

Postgraduate diploma: Tourism Management

Entry requirements

A suitable bachelor’s degree or an advanced diploma in tourism management at NQF Level 7 are the prerequisites for admission. The prospective student must also have at least a 60% average in the prerequisite qualification.

Experienced students who don’t satisfy these minimal academic standards will need to go through a rigorous RPL procedure to determine their eligibility to take part in the program.
